Carbon Reduction Plan

Last updated: 18 October 2023

The Space Skills Alliance is committed to net zero emissions.

Emissions

Scope 1

Scope 1 emissions are direct emissions caused by any process or activity by the company that causes greenhouse gas emission.

We have no scope 1 emissions.

Scope 2

Scope 2 emissions are indirect emissions caused by the company purchasing energy (from sources you do not own or control)

We have no scope 2 emissions.

Scope 3

Scope 3 emissions are all the indirect emissions that occur because of business activity.

All our emissions are within scope 3, as all of our employees work from home. Our business-related emissions consist primarily of:

The World Bank estimates that the per capita figure for carbon emissions in the UK is around 5 tons of CO2. We estimate that for our employees, approximately half of this is business related, giving us a figure of 2.5 tons of CO2 per employee.

Offsetting

We offset 3.6 tons of CO2 per year per employee, approximately 1.4 times our estimate for emissions, allowing us to achieve net zero as a business.

Details of our offsetting can be found here: ecologi.com/spaceskills
